- John Jay Bio The generation of gospel rap music is quickly growing at a high rate. Many artists that have opened the door for this genre such as DC TALK, T-BONE, CROSS MOVEMENT, LECRAE, RICHIE RIGHTEOUS and many others. New up-n-coming gospel rap artist Jayson "John Jay" Johnson, plans to open some doors for gospel rap as well. I feel that it's definitely needed at these crucial times. The time is now for the Gospel to be vocalized at a high level. At the age of five, John Jay grew a passion for music that would be used for the goodness of the savior later in his life. At age seven, his aunt started to bring him around church to keep him on the right field. He started writing poems at 12, shortly writing songs before his 13th birthday. After losing a family member who was murdered six weeks before his Junior High School Graduation, he strayed away from the church.
After a four year hiatus from God's calling, he came back to the church at 17. "At this time I was still finding my way going through everyday trials and tribulations and I am still going through. I'm more than grateful to say I'm not like my yesterday. I just felt the heavy load being lifted off my shoulders when I stepped back in the house of God."
At 18 he received a major recording contract after his high school graduation, but I declined the offer, I wasn't too sure what I wanted at the time. I was slowly walking away from my old days of rhyming. I stopped profanity in my lyrics so that was also a sign to me. Little did I know I was stepping into who God wanted me to be. I started to write a lot of gospel verses for the choir as a feature. It eventually grew into songs.
Four years later at the age of twenty two, he's ready to bring out his ministry. Not just to New York City, but to all around the globe. He has much to speak on and the PREQUEL TO NIGHT SEASON mix tape will give listeners a taste of what's to come from the Man of Valor. Powerful tracks such as "Praise Party", "Choices of Life", & "Find My Way" will keep listeners praising him into the 2008 album debut.
I am young and still learning, and growing in Christ everyday. I know what I'm dedicating to people is not just good inspirational music; it is also ministry to help them get through the storms in their everyday life. Jayson L. Johnson (Aka John Jay)

He won’t give any specifics on a release date, title or features, but is simply saying “it will include all of my friends.”
